Why You Need A Second Opinion?
MRI is one of one, the best diagnostic imaging tools available today for detecting many types of illnesses. MRI is considered as the investigation of choice as far as brain, spine and joints are concerned.
In MRI, images of part scanned are captured by the machine. The images obtained then are evaluated by the Radiologist, a Specially Trained Doctor. The machine provides images to view inside of the body, but it is up to human eyes to interpret the data optimally. Here lie the radiologist’s skill and keen observation to analyze what the machine has recorded.
Many factors can influence the interpretation of an exam including radiologist’s experience and workload. The interpretation of MRI is subjective, it is for sure that every radiologist will interpret the same MRI in different way and style. And off course, your course of treatment depends on the exam results. A problem mentioned in your report based on which your treating physician advises you surgery and in such case to be sure you may need a second opinion.
Remember, receiving a second opinion report does not mean you do not trust your doctor. It simply means you are a conscious and well-motivated patient or patient’s relative in your own healthcare and most of the physicians will respect and welcome this.
Here your scan will be reviewed, compared to the original report with any further recommendations.
