Hyperdense thalami : Perinatal ischemia

A 6 yo male with delayed milestone. Preterm hospital delivery. Not cried immediately after birth, was in NICU for 3months. 

CT Brain salient features:

• Hyperdense thalami.
• Cortical atrophy.
• Ex vacuo dilatation of lateral ventricle with undulating walls suggestive of Gliosis and paucity of periventricular white matter - Periventricular leukomalacia.

Imaging findings and history supports Profund perinatal ischemia.

DDs of hyperdense thalami:
Krabbe.
GM Gangliosidosis.
Profund perinatal ischemia.
